9/26/07 - STICK SPOT PLAY WINNERS AND THE RUMOR MILL FOR SEPT 07

*SPOT PLAY RAMPAGE AND A WELL FED CUSTOMER*

We have had a very good friend and customer over the past year named Chris Demers. Chris told me he wanted Winners. "Dont bother giving me exotics or the whole card, just give me the winners, Marc"

In being 100% honest in my reporting of my selections, I will tell you, that Chris and I had a very rocky start. His first 5 selections, which cost him $500 all lost. We had 3 second places, a last place and a horse that smashed herself out of the gate.

I did not blame Chris at all when he told me he could not continue taking losers. I felt horrible. Its in my best interest to give out winners. Also, I enjoy talking to my customers and helping them turn a profit. I remained persistant with Chris and he told me if I could give him one solid play he would consider coming back. Well, we lost that day at Monmouth Park with a 3rd place finish. I was done. A failure as a handicapper, an unhappy customer who gave me a lot of money and I totally screwed up for him. It was enough to make me want to close down the web site.

As many of you know, I have been an on line handicapper since 1998. I never give up and I always find a way to turn a profit at the races. I went back to basics. I started watching every race from every track I could on HRTV and TVG. I kept detailed notebooks on jockeys, trainers, track bias, and anything else I could see in a race to give me an advantage when I came back to those horses or that level of racehorse at that track. It has paid off in a big way.

I left the website without any updates for the last month. I concentrated on my selections and returned to basics and it has paid off in big profits.

Chris and I went 8 for 10 with Winners at Laurel, Belmont, Calder, and Delaware. Our prices were, $8.60, $15.20, $7.40, $9.20, $11.80, $17.60, $4.40, $10.80. The low price of $4.40 was Barancella at Belmont over the weekend and I had to reassure Chris that this low price was worth taking due to Barancella's huge class edge in that race.

If your interested in the Stick Spot Play(s) of the day, please email me and we can send you our Premium Selection each day or weekend that you want them.

*RUMOR MILL*

South Florida has undergone an incredible transformation in gaming in the last 4 months.

Class 3 Slot Machines(The Las Vegas, Atlantic City ones) are in operation at The Isle Casino at Pompano Park(My personal favorite), Gulfstream Park, The Mardi Gras Casino - formerly Hollywood Florida Greyhounds. They are also approved for operation at Dania Jai Lai, but Boyd gaming is waiting to complete a huge makeover of the most famous Jai Lai fronton in America.

No Limit Poker with a $100 max buy in exists at all Florida Poker Rooms. Finally, FULL Horse Racing Simulcasting is authorized at Pompano Park and Gulfstream Park so we can play the Thoroughbreds all day without having to drive an hour South to Calder or North to the Palm Beach Kennel Club

The Seminole Nation operates three casinos within this range, The well known Hard Rock resort and hotel, The smaller Coconut Creek Casino and The Hollywood Classic. These casinos all have the same Poker games, but the Seminoles are using Class 2 Slot Machines which are Bingo machines made to give the impression of a real slot machine, but not.

Its interesting for those in the know, that the Classic casino is literally one block away from the Hard Rock, at Stirling and Griffin Road off 441 respectivly. The Coconut Creek Casino is at the end of Sample Road and 441 about 25 miles north on the Palm Beach county line.

Now for the RUMORS ! .....

There is a new room that has been built adjacent to the Hard Rock Poker room. It has a screen in front of it, but the Rumor Mill has confirmed from 3 sources, that this room contains Blackjack tables and a High Stakes No Limit Poker.

The Rumor Mill has also confirmed that the Seminoles purchased the Blackjack tables 2 years ago and they have been sitting in storage waiting to be put in use.

The Govenor of Florida, the honored Steven Crist, has said he is willing to let the Seminole Nation sign a compact alllowing Blackjack and class 3 slots in exchange for taxes equivalent to $100 million a year. However, the Florida Legislature and Rep Rubio have publicly vowed to fight this tooth and nail saying that the Legislature has the final say on gaming in the state. This has set up a possible showdown in the courts bewteen the Govenor and the Legislature.

For our part, we would like to see normal gaming flurish in South Florida. Flurish and be taxed appropriately so that the people of South Florida will benefit from the revenues. To fight the Seminoles and to try and prevent Blackjack and possible roulette and Craps in the name of saying you dont want to see gambling in South Florida expand is simply short sighted. What difference is there between the strategy of Poker and the mindless joy of Slot Machines, that Blackjack or Roulette would possible breach ? Also, there is a possibility that the Federal Government, The Interior Department might step in and let the Seminoles have Class 3 Slot Machines at the very least without any taxes being given to Florida. Its time to realize that gambling in South Florida is a reality and an essential means of generating revenue for the state which is experiencing big shortfalls in their current budgets. Allow Gaming, and maintain a realistic oversight of it. This way Florida lives in the modern gaming world, not a washed out version that encourages people who want to gamble to go to Biloxi and Tunica.

The Bad Beat, a staple of Seminole Poker, has finally been introduced to other venues. Mardi Gras, Gulfstream, and Dania have it. Now for the Bad Beat rumor......The Isle at Pompano may be getting the Bad Beat on October 1st. Welcome to the 20th century Steven, Gary, Vinnie, Chris, Mike. Will we ever get a WSOP or WPT event in South Florida's finest Poker Room ? Stay tuned to the rumor mill for more.
