We nailed the majority of races at Gulfstream this past Saturday. It must have been because this is our Home Track now.

The Big Story was Scat Daddy winning the Florida Derby after soundly bumping Stormello right out of the race. We had Notional also, but our selections were inverted due to the bumping incident through the stretch.

Magician and AP Arrow were stand outs for us, and we even nailed the last race on the card for those fans looking to get out if they went against our picks earlier.

See our comments below on each race and look at our selections page for FREE to see the many Winners we gave out.

*Top three year old to be determined at Gulfstream this Saturday, along with a powerful Stakes undercard*

in reviewing the Gulfstream Park card for Saturday, I can only say ... WOW ! It looks as if Gulfstream is hosting the Breeders Cup this Saturday.

The Orchid, Aventura, Pan American, Skip Away and Florida Derby have outstanding horses and riders, and we are looking for some fantastic finish's.

*The Orchid Handicap at 1 1/2 Miles on Turf for 4 yr olds and up F&M - Purse : $150,000*

Todd Pletcher looks to start his day off right away with Safari Queen. However, trainer Christophe Clement also has a talented girl in Time On.

We salute Pletcher for giving back to one his most loyal rider's, Chris DeCarlo. Instead of putting Victor Espinoza up, DeCarlo keeps the mount, and we respect this rider very much. It looks like Chri's moment to shine, but he still has to go 1 1/2 miles with his charge against some ntough competition.

La Dolce Vita also looks interesting and it will give another D.Wayne Lukas protege, Mark Hennig, a chance to defeat his friend, Todd Pletcher.

*The Aventura Stakes at 7 Furlongs for 3 yr olds - Purse : $175,000 *

This is another interesting race as it showcases three year olds also. However, they are sprinting rather then going a distance.

Street Magician looks to set sail and fly home on a magic carpet. Will he steal it ? Or will some of the others like, Green Vegas or Blue Bullet be chasing him around the far turn into the stretch ?

This looks like a decent betting race, and we have selected only one of the horses mentioned here in our selections. We think a decent exotic payout is probable in here.

*The Pan American at 1 1/2 Mile on Turf for 4 yr olds and up males - Purse : $150,000*

In these long distance turf races anything can usually does happen. We are hopeful of some good trips for our top selections in the pay pages. However, we will tell you Revved Up deserves to be lower then his 6-1 morning line odds suggest.

Also, take note - in a 1 1/2 mile race, the jockey's really can gain a huge advantage over each other's horses by rating or pushing out on the lead. The entire race may look to be a long distance, but it might be determined in the very first half mile of the race.

*The Skip Away at 1 1/8 Mile for 4 yr olds and up males - Purse : $150,000*

Its no surprise here that trainer Todd Pletcher looks to showoff his very nice handicap horse, AP Arrow. While we do like Arrow, we feel there are many horses who can defeat him if they get the right trip.

Political Force caught our attention. ITs always a pleasure to see an Allen Jerkens trained horse at a morning line of 6-1 with a top rider like Javiar Castellano aboard. This race may have juicy exotics if our selections come in the way we think they will.

*The FLORIDA DERBY ! at 1 1/8 Mile for 3 yr olds and up males - Purse : $1,000,000*

This is the race everyone will be watching. From coast to coast, Horse Racing fans will see the winner of this race become probable favorite for the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May.

All eyes will focus on the Todd Pletcher trainee, Scat Daddy. Jockey Edgar Prado gets the mount as John Velasquez will be in Dubai missing all the fun. With a scintillating late run, Scat Daddy looks to prove his huge score in the Fountain of Youth was no fluke and that he is the top 3 year old in the nation.

We will tell you that we have Scat Daddy in our Top Three Selections for our subscription customers, but that he is NOT our Top Pick.

Will Notional be closing at the end to pick up all the pieces ?

Can a dark horse come in from out of the clouds to bring about victory ? Adore the Gold and Bird is the word will both be at their peak levels. Will it be enough to defeat the three favorites in the race ?

Remember, watch and review this race very closely. It will help you when you go to select a Kentucky Derby horse next month. The first Saturday in May is roughly 6 weeks after this race. It gives the winner a chance to rest up and be fit and ready to run big, even if he puts out a maximum effort today.
