Race #7-B.CUP MILE G1-$2.17MIL-1 Mile(TURF) *GRADED STAKES HORSES*

Top Selection: G71 PP#10 Miesque's Approval Castro 118/120 *SBB*

Second Selection: S69 PP#3 Araafa Velazquez 117/120

Third Selection: G74 PP#9 Rob Roy Dominguez 116/125 *LSJ*

Fourth Selection : G73 PP#7 Aragorn Nakatani 115/130 *FFS*

Fifth Selection : D80 PP#12 Gorella Leparoux 112/115 *BLZ*

(*GOLD RUSH LEVEL*)FULL COMMENTS :

Miesque's Approval is the best all around turf miler in this field. A long and wonderful career at different distances and 3 big wins in his last 4 mile turf efforts. 15-1 morning line is incredible, and we like this one very much for an upset.

Aarafa has raced against Europe's best, but is a 3 year old, and has never won in a time close to our horses. This has to be reasoned out though as European races are run on very heavy, slow turf, and many times Euro runners run just as fast as our horses when they hit a fast turf track. This one has talent, but may not be the best one in here.

I really like Rob Roy in here. He is a 4 yr old and he beat out Hurricane Run(who is in the Classic). Rob Roy likes to rate and close, which is a perfect way to win in the Mile Turf. Not sure if the change of country will hurt this one, but if he runs like he has in Euorpe, he can win this race or be in the top 3 at least.

Aragorn has won all the major Turf mile races in California, and he has every right to run big in here. With ultra fast times, and solid victory margins, this one will be bet down. Your question to answer is, will this one be able to grab the lead at the top of the stretch ? Or will someone else, Rob Roy perhaps, be pressing him through the stretch or even on the turn ?

Gorella is a wonderful filly, who for some odd reason is being raced against the boys to go a mile rather then run 1 1/4 against the girls on turf. This was a bad decision by Gorella's connections. I like her and think she can run well in any race, but against this crack level field of boys, it seems unlikely she can shine as well as she would have in the Filly and Mare Turf race.

Race #10-B.CUP CLASSIC G1-$5MIL-1 1/4 Mile *GRADED STAKES HORSES*

Top Selection: S69 PP#11 Invasor Jara 123/125 *SBB, FFS*

Second Selection: G75 PP#8 Lava Man Nakatani 120/125 *SSP, BLZ*

Third Selection: G78 PP#6 Perfect Drift Gomez 116/120

Fourth Selection : S67 PP#7 David Junior Spencer 115/125

Fifth Selection : G78 PP#9 Giacomo Smith 112/120 *LSJ*

(*GOLD RUSH LEVEL*)FULL COMMENTS :

Invasor is undefeated execpt for a tough race he lost in the UAE Derby. His victories in the Pimlico Special, Suburban, and Whitney Handicap's make this one standout from every angle. His middle move style says, that whenever he chooses to make his run, he will sweep around the field and draw off for an easy victory.

Lava Man needs to run the best race of his career right now, right here. He has proven he is the best horse on the West Coast and has defeated all comers in Southern California. We know he did not like the Belmont Park surface, but will he like the Churchill Downs surface ? On Aug 13, 2004, he was claimed for $50,000, and has since gone on to win more then $3.7 Million. If he can win here, this is one of the greatest stories in Horse Racing. They could make a movie out of Lava Man. I want him to win and I hope he wins, but have togive you my figures and a more logical reasoning to play these horses. This one is a lock top 3 if he can handle the Churchill Downs racing surface.

Perfect Drift is an incredible story also, and the pride of Kentucky right now. With $4.6 Million in earnings, and a never say die attitude, this gelding wakes up every year and wins a major race. Last year it was the Stephen Foster at Churchill Downs. This year it could be right here. Everyone at Churchill Downs knowsabout Perfect Drift, and you can expect to see lower then expected odds, as people root and cheer for this one to win big in the biggest race of the year.

David Junior is another $4.1 million earner, and he is well known in Europe. The Eclipse Stakes a group one this year and the Champion Stakes(Group One) last year combined with 9 out of 12 in the money lifetime show us this is a superstar also. OF Note- Quija Board ran 5th in the Eclipse Stakes that David Junior won. Oh, almost forgot to mention, the Dubai Duty Free....The other $5 Million horse race, was won by David Junior also. We like him and he has every right to win in here at 15-1 odds.

Giacomo LOVES Churchill Downs ! Also, the locals will always honor a Derby Winner and be rooting for hi in their hearts. Winning the Kentucky Derby is like being annointed holy to Kentucky Horsemen. Combine that with a surprise win in the San Diego Handicap, and a close third to Lava Man in the Goodwood Handicap, and you have all the makings of an upset at long odds. I mean imagine, a Kentucky Derby Winner racing at Churchill Downs wit hmorning line odds of 30-1 ? Its unheard of ! Don't be surprised to see this one make 4th or better, especially if there are any mis-cues or mistakes by the others. Giacomo is a closer, and he may find clear sailing on the rail or on the outside and do much better then most people think he will.

RESULTS OF THE BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC

11 Invasor Fernando Jara 15.40 5.80 4.60

3 Bernardini Javier Castellano 3.40 3.00

2 Premium Tap Edgar S. Prado 8.80

Again our fans had a wonderful Stick Best Bet to play in the Classic. At 7-1+, our Top Pick on the Day, Invasor, returned a very nice $15.40 for the win. In another well placed selection, Giacomo did finish 4th and round out a big Superfecta payout ! We told you about past Derby winners and how they are revered at Churchill Downs. Giacomo's 4th place finish is equal to a victory for his fans. Surprisingly, Bernadini ran well enough to finish second. He certainly showed us he is a better horse then we were giving him credit for. Sadly, Lava Man cannot run well outside of California.

The Other Breeders Cup Races.

Breeders Cup Juvenile

1 Street Sense Calvin H. Borel 32.40 12.60 8.00

9 Circular Quay Garrett K. Gomez 5.00 3.20

7 Great Hunter Corey S. Nakatani 4.40

Todd Pletcher's blowout day started here with a decent horse being sent off at 15-1 and Carl Nafzager/Calvin Borel winning with a strong middle move.

Circular Quay ran a great race, but was soundly bumped and in traffic through the stretch. When Circular Quay finally found running room, it was too late for him to catch the winner. Quay may have been the better horse, but he certainly did not get the better trip through the stretch. Winner, Street Sense had a dream run up the rail and was well clear at the 16th pole. Fourth place finisher, Scat Daddy also suffered from traffic problems and a very fast early pace that compromised his chances.

Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies

1 Dreaming of Anna Rene R. Douglas 7.20 4.60 3.40

4 Octave Garrett K. Gomez 5.80 4.40

7 Cotton Blossom John R. Velazquez 9.00

Dreaming of Anna did what Barbero had done coming into the KY Derby. She had run well on both Turf and Dirt surfaces. Her win was both impressive and a clear vindication for her from critics who said she had not done enough. However, how much can one expect a 2 yr old filly to accomplish prior to the Breeders Cup ?

Another Pletcher trainee, Octave finished 2nd. Cotton Blossom was a even third in a race that fell apart at the 1/8th pole.

Breeders Cup Sprint

1 Thor's Echo Corey S. Nakatani 33.20 15.80 10.20

2 Friendly Island Ramon A. Dominguez 50.00 32.80

7 Nightmare Affair Edgar S. Prado 15.20

Thor's Echo and Friendly Island put together a head scracther finish in the Sprint. While most were focusing on Henny Hughes, Bordenaro and Siren Lure, we all forgot that Corey Nakatani loves to win the Sprint Races ! With a perfect ride and an incredible move, Thor's Echo was perfectly placed sitting in 3rd through the running of this race. Corey took his time, and waited until the perfect moment and then drewoff through the stretch for an impressive and exciting race. Friendly Island 50-1+, yet another Todd Pletcher trainee, and one which no one through anything of, finished 2nd by some fluke of racing luck. Nightmare Affair, another unpickable, finished 3rd to help return a $10,000+ Tri and a $114,000 Super.

Breeders Cup filly/mare Turf

2 Ouija Board Lanfranco Dettori 4.80 3.40 2.60

4 Film Maker Edgar S. Prado 5.80 4.40

5 Honey Ryder John R. Velazquez 4.40

The one favorite winner on the day was Euro star Quija Board. She proved dominant against girls, and had even shown victories against male runners in Europe. Frankie Dettori put together a masterful ride on her, and simply waited until the stretch run to get her clear. Once Quija Board had open real estate to run on, she accelerated and drew clear for the most impressive performance of the afternoon.

AmericanRunners, Film Maker and Honey Ryder both ran their races, and were not disgraced in any way. Quija Board showed herself a proven champion, unlike Bernadini ever did, by running and winning against the very best of her division on repeated tries. Winning against other great horses makes you a champion, not winning in empty non competitive races. Quija Board is a Champion.

Breeders Cup Distaff

1 Round Pond Edgar S. Prado 29.80 14.00 9.00

13 Happy Ticket Garrett K. Gomez 14.20 9.20

14 Balletto Corey S. Nakatani 5.60

We almost gave everyone another BIG Winner in here. We told you to get Happy. Happy Ticket was a wonderful story about a great filly who had moved up from the small Louisiana Tracks into the Big Time ! She showed her talent and ability in the Distaff, but was just not able to get to eventual winner, Round Pond. Baletto, another young lady we pointed out to you for her poise and ability, finished a respectable 3rd after encountering traffic problems and some sound bumping which moved her up into the 3rd spot from 4th via DQ. Round Pond was a nice little girl, but she certainly had not won anything. With loss after loss, it was very difficult to pick her, yet she did win.

All in all, it was a great Breeders Cup. The finest horses ran on racings biggest day, and while their were many upsets, thats what makes this day so exciting. Anyone can win on a big day like this, and Champions were made through their efforts. Sincerest congratulations to the owners, trainers, and jockeys who put forth their best efforts and shined no matter where they eventually finshed.
