8/02/07 - HEATWAVE GRIPS NORTHEAST, TRACKS UP AND DOWN SEABOARD CLOSED

The Stick Horse Racing dot Com urges all our fans to stay indoors with air conditioning. We also strongly urge all of you to stay hydrated and drink water or other drinks with low sugar and low caffeine if possible. The heatwave currently being experienced on the east coast is dangerous and we hope all of you will take the appropriate precautions during this period.

*TRACKS CLOSED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT*

*Monmouth Park - Oceanport, New Jersey

*Delaware Park - Delaware

*Saratoga - Saratoga Springs, New York

*Suffolk Downs - Massachusets

*Finger Lakes - Canadaguia, New York

*Colonial Downs - Virginia

The Temperatures in the entire northeastern section of the country is expected to climb well over 100 degrees into possible record heat.

The horses and jockey's and racing fans may be unhappy about the loss of a racing day in the middle of the very popular Summer season, but we salute the courage of the racing associations to look beyond their bottom line and insure the safety of our fans and our equine(and human) athlete's.

*WHEN WILL IT ALL END ?*

According to many reports on the various news and weather outlets, there will be a series of storms that will push the hot weather out and temperatures should be back into the high 80's Friday into Saturday.
